apt update
apt install bind9 bind9utils bind9-dnsutils bind9-doc bind9-host -y
# test if bind installed
named -v
# check bind status
systemctl status bind9
# if bind didn't start
systemctl start bind9
systemctl enable named
Check if BIND (named) is listening on Port 53
ss -tlnp | grep 53
The Output should something like this
LISTEN 0 10 141.62.75.101:53 0.0.0.0:* users:(("named",pid=46047,fd=19))
LISTEN 0 10 127.0.0.1:53 0.0.0.0:* users:(("named",pid=46047,fd=16))
LISTEN 0 4096 127.0.0.53%lo:53 0.0.0.0:* users:(("systemd-resolve",pid=74,fd=18))
LISTEN 0 4096 0.0.0.0:5355 0.0.0.0:* users:(("systemd-resolve",pid=74,fd=12))
LISTEN 0 4096 [::]:5355 [::]:* users:(("systemd-resolve",pid=74,fd=14))
The first two lines show that Bind (named) is listening on the right Port (53)
